Thomson Foundation Journalism Now Scholar competition 2018 (Expenses paid trip to 2018 Thomson Foundation summer course in London)

Thomson Foundation summer course.
Journalism Now is a series of online interactive courses designed and led by industry experts providing the latest in digital and multimedia skills. The global learning environment gives exclusive access to live training and mentoring sessions, run by leading journalists, and a unique knowledge-sharing platform.
Every summer, international journalists come to London to attend Thomson Foundation’s digital and multimedia course. The result is a unique community that now extends to hundreds of journalists worldwide, all with cutting-edge skills in different media.

One competition winner – along with the next cohort of international journalists all looking to sharpen their multiplatform skills – will be given the opportunity to come to London and spend five weeks working with top industry mentors.

Requirements:
The competition is open to entrants aged 18 or over.
Only one entry per person. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed.

Prize:
Participation in Thomson Foundation’s digital and multimedia summer course – a five-week long intensive training programme in London (from 6th August to 7th September, 2018) with a week’s work experience in a UK media organisation.

Application Procedure:
1) Enrol on your first Journalism Now online course (if you haven’t already enrolled on a course). You can browse through all of our live courses here.

2) Once you’ve enrolled on a course of your choice, log in to the Journalism Now platform (details on how to log in will be given once you enrol), find the Journalism Now Scholar channel and register your intent to participate in the competition by posting a piece of work that you have completed.

3) Next, you need to complete FIVE courses successfully. All of our Journalism Now courses are self-paced. Some courses can be completed within three hours over multiple sessions, others up to six hours, on average. You have until 1st May to complete all five courses.

The main purpose of the FATE mentoring programme is to enhance the mentee’s personal and professional development by exposing them to ‘more experienced’ entrepreneurs and professionals who can set them on the right track and give them essential life lessons such as personal development, negotiation and networking skills, communication skills and business plan development. 

Requirements for Volunteering at FATE Foundation


Professional Background

*Have a minimum of 5 years of enterprise development experience (AEP and SEP)
*Have a minimum of 10 years of enterprise development experience (EEP)

* Must employed by a reputable company with at least 5 years management experience (AEP/SEP)
* Must be in a C-Level position of a reputable Company (EEP)

Academic Background
* Have a minimum of a Tertiary Certificate e.g. B.Sc from an accredited Institution.

* Believe in the FATE values (Relationship, Integrity, Service and Excellence).
* Be willing to undergo a FATE train-the-trainer workshop at FATE.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy Abuja invites applications from qualified Nigerians wishing to teach Hausa or Yoruba languages and cultures to American students in U.S. universities and colleges.
The Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) program is a nine month non-degree course funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Institute of International Education. The objective of the program is to strengthen foreign language instruction at U.S. colleges, universities, and some high schools, while providing future teachers from abroad the opportunity to refine their skills, increase their English language proficiency, and expand their knowledge of U.S. society and culture.  FLTA fellows must return to their home countries upon completion of their programs to teach English at the secondary or university level.
All applications must meet the following criteria:

Vision

Every student who graduates from a tertiary institution located in Lagos State will possess the knowledge, skills and mind-set required to be self-employed or become a value adding employee.

Programme Duration:

The programme runs for thirteen (13) weeks of intensive training (Saturday only) administered during the Second Semester of the school year.

Internships & Seed Funding:

At the end of the 13 weeks, outstanding students that have met the program requirements will have the opportunity to earn internship placements at various top organizations in the State. Students interested in being entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to pitch their business ideas in and their endeavour to bid for seed funding.

Makers, creators, social activists, and artists are thriving around the globe, and this mentorship program is tailored to help bridge the gap between female creatives uncomfortable with the stage their art and skills are currently at and those who have grown tremendously. The program is a One-on- One virtual mentorship guidance that will hold for 2 months causing accelerated growth in the selected candidates. During the program, chosen mentees get assigned to a Mentor, who will help shape their work for 2 months. Some of the Mentors include Award-winning Actress and Writer, Obehi Janice, Tosin Oshinowo, Mariama Camara and Ozoz Sokoh of Kitchen Butterfly.

For Creatives Girls is a semi-educational platform that provides all the resources and channels the Female Creative needs to grow and be successful. It is a platform for creative women to share insights about their creative processes (how they get things done and how they execute ideas), the way they get inspiration for their work and how to be profitable. Championing women engaged in the Creatives (Design, Arts, Writing, Painting, Photography etc), showcasing them and inspiring the aspiring female creatives to flourish. Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) Scholarship Program for International students at the University of Guelph,Canada 2018



Description



The OMAFRA – U of G Partnership funds the Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP) Program to support the development of highly skilled graduates who can meet the changing demands of the agri-food and rural sector. The health of these sectors depends on a vibrant talent pool of skilled, forward-thinking learners. The Partnership is dedicated to supporting advanced skill development and learning to enhance the intellectual capacity of our citizens to solve current and future problems.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the HQP Scholarship Program you must:
  • be a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, or studying under an international visa;
  • be entering your first semester of a Master's (thesis-based) or PhD program at the University of Guelph;
  • not have already started your graduate program;
  • not be an OMAFRA employee;
  • not concurrently hold other major awards such as NSERC, OGS, SSHRC or CIHR.

Maximum Project Value

Master's students: $21,300 per year (up to $17,300 from HQP Program, plus $4,000 annual top-up from Faculty Advisor)
Doctoral students: $26,000 per year (up to $21,000 from HQP Program, plus $5,000 annual top-up from Faculty Advisor)

Project Duration

The maximum annual allocation to students will be based on six semesters for completion of the master’s degree and nine semesters for completion of the doctorate.

Master’s and Doctoral students complete research that meets OMAFRA’s research priorities and learn firsthand how forward-thinking research can be mobilized to have a positive impact on society.
OMAFRA’s priorities are contained within the following seven theme areas:
